Can disruption in transportation save the climate?

I know how the business disruption works, but I am working in different sector than transportation. I only read what’s in media – about few innovations like Tesla’s doing, autonomous driving etc. But this Keynote on Transportation really opened my mind, how big impact the electro-mobility with autonomous driving could have and that it will literally change the world in the upcoming years.

So what could you expect in this video, when you watch it to the end?

  • Speaker is also author of book Clean disruption
  • He’s not presenting only opinions, but have numbers behind
  • Explains, why lots of conventional forecast models cannot forecast future at all (spoiler: linearity of forecasts doesn’t calculate with technology progress, which is always non-linear. 2% market with technology can and historically did disrupt whole sector)
  • How powerful technological progress is – both in history and happening in present. And that it could take only 10 years to change it.
  • How jobs and society always acomodate to technologies quickly.
  • Why EV have already ROI now (spoiler: instead of 5000 pieces of car, you have only 12) and why companies will start to invest massively in EV car fleets this and next year (global change following)
  • Peak oil will be this year, then consumption will start to decreasy.
  • What a huge step for carbon neutrality will Amazon do next year and how it will impact its competitors.
  • How Transport as a service – (AI driving + global car sharing) change the world:
    • less need to build because of smart mobile shops, hotels, less need for parking, less traffic and more space for living
    • less need to own a car – households will save 6500 dolars yearly – which will make people more rich, including the poorest ones
    • ecology impacts – 90% decrease CO2 emissions, 80% decrease energy consumtion

Once you get the context of what is happening, you can really enjoy last two minutes:

“This is not happening because of climate or goverments… This is already happening for purely economic reasons”
